Poll: Do you want a player on the Now Playing and Requests pages?

Posted on Feb 1, 2012 | 0 comments

It’s been a while since we last posted an update, but we’ve been busy updating the site, mostly with behind-the-scenes optimization, and with adding more music to the Stream system.

As part of our site updates, we’ve been thinking of possibly putting a player on the Now Playing and/or Requests pages, so that listeners can continue to listen to the Stream while they’re looking at the playlist or browsing the tracks on the request list.

We want to hear what you think – please let us know what you want to see using the poll below.

Additionally, we’re now running a special on advertising opportunities on our site – please contact us using the Contact page, or email us at [email protected] for more information.

And, as always, we’d love to hear from you, whether it’s a comment, feedback, idea, or just to tell us how much you like the Stream, and we do our best to respond to any correspondence we get as soon as we are able to.

JewishMusic Stream webOS App Now Available!

Posted on Nov 30, 2011 | 0 comments

We’ve been trying to work to bring the JewishMusic Stream to more platforms and more devices, and we’re happy to announce that the JewishMusic Stream webOS App is now available!

We’re still working on apps for other platforms and operating systems, but we decided to work on something for webOS due to the recent sale on the TouchPad, and since it’s one of the easiest platforms to develop for.

You can get the app from the HP App Catalog from your webOS device, or you can use this direct link: http://jms.mx/webOSApp.

For now, the app plays the Stream music, shows you what’s currently playing, and has buttons that link to the Playlist and Song Request pages online.

We’re hoping to add more features to the app, but we want to hear what our listeners want to see added.

Let us know what you want to see added to the app, or what you think – all comments, feedback, and ideas are always appreciated, and we do our best to respond to any correspondence we get as soon as we are able to!

Change in our plans for the Three Weeks: Acapella!

Posted on Jul 22, 2011 | 0 comments

We had originally decided that we were not planning on switching the stream over to acapella for the Three Weeks, because of the amount of work that it would involve.

However, today our plans changed.

We decided to go ahead and make the switch over to acapella for the Three Weeks. It entailed a very large amount of work, but we hope that the time and effort we put in will be worth it. In addition, our request system now shows only acapella.

We also made the decision to only play the type of acapella that we ourselves listen to during the Three Weeks. This is in no way a Halachic decision for everyone, and each person has to decide for themselves, or ask their Rav or Posek, what’s appropriate for them to them to listen to. However, we felt that just as we always set a certain standard for ourselves, and we try to always only play music that we feel meets a certain level of Jewishness normally during the year, we would only put up what we consider appropriate for the Three Weeks. If your Minhag (custom) is different, that’s fine, and we definitely respect that, but we still won’t be putting up what we don’t feel is appropriate for the Three Weeks. You’re welcome to listen to whatever you want to listen to, but we won’t necessarily be playing it.

Having said that, there are albums that we would consider appropriate for the Three Weeks, and we would put up and play, but we either forgot to add them to the system, or don’t have them.

If there is an album that you think is missing and you’d like to hear, please let us know, and if we feel it is appropriate for the Three Weeks, and if we have it, or can get it, we will try to add it to the system.

Even with whatever acapella we can add, there still isn’t too much out there. Because of that, you’ll find yourself hearing songs repeated a lot more often than with our regular system. However, we hope that people realize that it’s either that or nothing, and that having the stream set up for acapella means that we’ll have to make whatever we have work in the best way possible.

Welcome to the Updates page!

Posted on Jul 19, 2011 | 0 comments

Hi all.
We decided that Facebook and Twitter wasn’t enough for sharing longer updates and information that we think our listeners would want to know, so we set up an updates page on our site, where we will post any updates we share – even the shorter ones, but this will allow us to explain things clearly, instead of being restricted to the Facebook and Twitter limits.
We will post any shorter updates on Facebook and Twitter directly in addition to being posted here, but for any longer updates, we’ll just link from Facebook and Twitter directly to the post on this site.
Additionally, we welcome any comments or feedback on out posts and updates – you can respond by commenting on Facebook, replying to us on Twitter (use @JewishMusic), commenting on the blog posts, by using the contact page on our site, or by sending an email to [email protected].
Looking forward to hearing from you all!
