New App and Other Updates

It’s been a very long time since our last post, but before we cover everything that’s happened over the past few months, we have some exciting news:
After much development and testing, we have just released our new Chrome Desktop App!
The App is similar in appearance and basic functionality to the current version of our Chrome Extension, which has been a big hit among our listeners since it was first released in early 2011, almost 3 years ago.
However, the new App takes advantage of the Google Chrome browser backend to run on any operating system that supports Chrome, but as a separate desktop application, that can be launched and controlled independently from Chrome.
Once it’s installed, you can easily add shortcuts to your desktop, start menu, or taskbar, by right clicking on the App icon in the Chrome App Launcher (or from the icon on the new tab page), and then clicking on the Create Shortcuts option.
We’ll also be constantly updating the App (as well as the Extension), with new features and updates, and the App will always keep itself updated automatically.
You have to see and experience it for yourself to appreciate how easy it is to install and use – head over to the App on the Chrome Web Store to check it out!

In other news, after much time and effort over the past few months, the Stream is now running on a much more powerful system, with added capacity to reliably handle the constantly increasing number of listeners and visitors that we’ve been getting.

We’ve also added multiple features to our website – the Requests system now shows which songs can currently be requested, and songs that have been requested too recently, or aren’t allowed to be requested, have a red request button which can’t be clicked.

In addition, individual songs can now be Liked on Facebook – if there’s a song that you enjoy, and want to let us know, or share with your friends (along with your comments), you can click on the Like button on the current song, or on the Like icon on another song to open the song page where you can click the Like button, which will post a link to that song to your Facebook profile, and you can add your comments to the post as well.

We’re constantly adding new music to the Stream, as well as working on new features and ideas. We frequently post updates to our Facebook page, Twitter account, and Google Plus page, so like, follow, and add us, to be constantly kept up to date with the latest JewishMusic Stream news!

We also wanted to thank all our dedicated visitors and listeners for your constant support, for listening to the Stream and for visiting the site, for sending us your questions and suggestions, and for helping us spread the word about the JewishMusic Stream – we’ve only gotten to where we are because of you, and your support and interest pushes us to constantly work on coming up with new ideas and adding features (as well as maintain the current system) to make the Stream even better than it already is!
